Believe it or not, it’s very common for phones to be dropped in the sink/pool/toilet. Or sometimes people will go for a dip and forget the phone is in their pocket….SO – What’s the next step?
Do NOT attempt to power it on. Remove the case if it is in one and pad it down with a dry towel and stand it upright charge-port facing down. Putting in rice overnight is a myth and DOES NOT WORK!! Obviously, the quicker you can get it to a data recovery specialist the better your chance to retrieve all your photos, videos and contacts…Having said that….Here at 555 Date Recovery, we recently had a case where the phone had been placed in a drawer for over 12 months before being brought into our lab….And GUESS WHAT!! – We got all the clients data from the phone…YEP!!
Now this may not always be the case, but if you have an old phone laying around that got wet, and you’ve been meaning to recover the files, send it into us and you never know.
